🔐 Encryption

File uploads are encrypted with AES-256 encryption, using a 32 byte key.

Misconceptions

We can technically read files

Files are uploaded to our servers in plain form, and we then encrypt them while in-memory. If our servers get taken over, it would be possible for a bad acrot to intercept those requests and files. However, due to our security model, hopefully that won't happen.

Your files are not invisible

Anyone with the identifier and key of your file can see the contents of the file and its name.

Just like above, anyone who can see the file can also share the link of the file, with the decryption key in it, to us to process a legal request or report illegal and/or prohibited content.
